Press the unlock button for several minutes. The horn will sound, and the key fob should start to work. If the skoda keys don't work, it could be that the transmitter inside has become corrupted or out of alignment with the vehicle's security system. This will require the reprogramming of the device. This can be accomplished by an expert or an automotive locksmith. If the key fob isn't working after reprogramming, it may be that the car has “forgotten” the key (if the car hasn't been used in 6 months). This should still allow you to test a resync option in the user manual – take off the driver's door lock cap and lock, then unlock the car with that key. If it doesn't work, you'll have to visit the dealer. This usually happens with keys that have lost their function and takes less than 2 minutes to complete. Keyless Entry Method The new generation of keyless entry systems, such as the kind supplied with modern OCTAVIA as well as electric ENYAQ iV cars – features an ingenious security feature that prevents thieves from “signal extension”. A signal is sent to the car and then to the key, which must respond within a specified time. If the key fails to respond, the vehicle will not be unlocked and it will sound alarms. The car also can tell that the key is nearby with a sensor located in the door handle. It works by sending an alert to the key's internal coil which then responds by returning the signal to the sensor. If the sensor detects this, the car is able to unlock itself and may switch on the interior lights if set up to do so. Even the older keyless entry systems come with an older-fashioned backup. If the remote doesn't work, you can still open the driver's door mechanically by sliding out the blade or, in some models, pressing down on a button inside the door pocket. This is especially helpful when the battery of your key is dying or you've lost it. Remote Control Method If you've just purchased an entirely new remote control but it's not working in your car, it's likely that the seller didn't program it to work with your vehicle. You may also find that the battery terminals are loose. They will appear loose and may be soldered in. Soldering them back in place will bring back your key fob's full functionality. If you're not comfortable with this kind of repair, seek out an expert auto elec technician. Turn off the ignition and lock the car from inside with a second, unmatched key (this resets memory position 1). Enter channel “01”. (Can be channel “21” on some Audi models.) Insert the new key fob in the door to the driver's side and then press the unlock button twice in 5 seconds (often enough to reach the next available memory position). Repeat this process for up four additional remotes. Make sure to switch off the ignition between programming each remote. You should hear a tone each time you successfully program the remote.
